Kitchen Tile Backsplash Roundup

Call it decision fatigue or just plain indecisiveness, but it's taken us months to finally select a tile for our kitchen backsplash. We ordered from 4 different tile shops over those months (and we loved all of them), but for one reason or another couldn't find one that really felt like *it*.
Here is a roundup of some of the many tiles we tried, and which one we ultimately decided to go with.
I have loved cle tile for years, long before being an actual homeowner with any need for tiles. I also love that they're based right here in the Bay Area!
I am obsessed with cle tile's square zellige tiles - the mediterranean vibes are unparalleled. But as much as I wish I had a mediterranean dream home, our little beach house has too much character of it's own to impose that style on it. My zellige tile dreams will just have to wait.

The Cloe tile feels like the slightly more traditional version of zellige. It has some texture to it, but less variation than a handmade tile. We were VERY close to going with the Chloe in white or cream, but couldn't settle on which one matched our countertops/cabinets better. In the end, neither of them were quite right, which ultimately lead us to trying out some color!

Zia tile also offers zellige tiles, but I only ordered their cement tiles. The colors were so saturated! If I was all in on color I think these tiles would be great, they just didn't speak to our needs for the kitchen.
Another California based tile company, and by far my favorite of the bunch. We ordered whites and creams that we thought would match our countertops, and we also explored with some color. We actually ended up picking a beautiful green tile, but the whites and creams were also our favorite of all the tiles we ordered. We still need to settle on a shape and size, but we're so excited to have found a tile shop that we love!
